I caught this video last week, when it was first released and I’m really digging the concept. It has a very John Travolta in “Saturday Night Fever” vibe to it. I felt like Johnny 5 in Short Circuit when I watched this. It made me want to get up and dance and maybe even take some dancing lessons. I had no idea Dave 1 could move like this. I’m very impressed!
.
.
Speaking of Johnny 5, I loved him so much when I was a kid. Short Circuit 1 (1986) was definitely one of my favorite movies growing up. I wanted to have a robot just like him. Then 22 years later the movie WALL-E came out, and I fell for another robot <3 I must admit, they do look and act quite similar. They’re both so lovable! ^_^
.

.
For those of you out there who feel the same about these loving robots, you can still get your hands on a WALL-E toy at amazon.com. (Maybe for Christmas?)
- Wall E with light-up eyes, moving head and arms, original movie voice and sound effects.
- Talk to it; push it along or press a button and it he will respond.

.
Or maybe you can start saving up for one of these robots? CRAZY!!!!!!!!

Karen O the lead singer of the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s recorded the entirety of WTWTA’s soundtrack with help from some young fresh voices, “The Kids”.
I really love the spirit and vibe of this Soundtrack. It has a very earthy, energetic and wild sound to it. And let’s not forget the talented Karen O’s lovely voice, who I’m a sucker for. I LOVE HER!
This album makes me want to run outdoors and just let myself go and be free. I’m excited to see what visuals will compliment these great songs. We’ll see what Director Spike Jonze has in store for us on Friday Oct 16th, when the movie is set to come out.
I’ve listened to the soundtrack quite a few times already and I have some favorites. Capsize, Worried Shoes, Hideaway, Cliffs, Animal and Lost Fur. I can see this becoming a favorite album for both adults and kids of all ages.
Check out Vice’s WTWTA website where you can stream the entire album, as well check out artwork from 24 different regular contributing artists inspired by the story, interviews and behind the scenes.
Where The Wild Things Are is a 1963 children’s picture book by American writer Maurice Sendak. Although just ten sentences long, the book is generally regarded as a masterpiece of American illustrated childrens literature.
Here’s a video of the story.
Check out this video with author Maurice Sendak and Spike Jonze talking about the movie.

Venture to the deep end of the sandbox with Ralph Wiggum, the awkwardly endearing, paste-eating loser from Matt Groening’s The Simpsons. Choo-choo-choose this lovable 6-inch figure, which comes with one of two random assortment accessories, paste or a Leprechaun.
.

.
As well, get your hands on Kang & Kodos, the evil, cycloptic aliens. These come blind boxed and are also 6-inches tall. I want the salivating Kang with the “How to cook for forty humans” book.
.
These Simpsons characters retail for $29.95, and hit Kidrobot stores and select retailers on October 8th. Also, check out the Kidrobot site for other Simpsons characters.

Here’s a cool Simpsons/Burger King video that I stumbled upon and artwork by artist SpaceCayote. American Style vs Japanese style. Enjoy!

Nerviswr3ck just finished up a batch of his amazing customs and these lil bad boys are mini Munny’s that he made using sculpey (super), wires, and acrylic paint. These sweet customs were actually given away for FREE on the Kidrobot forums and he says that he plans on doing more free giveaways soon. He’s only been doing customs for a year and I think he’s doing a great job.
Check out these other bad boys he made.

And here’s work from an artist who I am a huge fan of, Chris Ryniak. He’s really big on creating monsters and also loves to emphasize on big scary teeth. He recently collaborated with Jonathan Bergeron and they will have a show at the Galerie d’Art Yves Laroche in Montreal from July 29th to August 9th’ 09 for their show titled “Misfortunate Travelers“.
Here’s some of Chris Ryniak’s past work.

And since I’m on a roll with scary teeth. Here’s one of my favorite video’s “An Eye For An Eye” by Unkle. Directed by Ruth Lingford and codirected with the Shynola collective. It’s an epic and multi-layered fantasy and has been acclaimed variously as an anti-war film, a psychoanalytic exploration of infantile oral aggression, and a cool pop promo. Enjoy!

Ok, this is AWESOME!!! I’ve been really excited and counting down the days for the release of the Major Lazer album that is set to come out on June 16th.
Well, I guess sometimes when you want something so bad….you get it!
Major Lazer has streamed their entire album on their MySpace page. Check it out right now! Can you say summer jams? Brap! Brap!
I love The Mary Jane track ft. Mr.Evil and Mapei!
Also, check out this toy of Major Lazer, the Jamaican Commando who lost his arm in the secret Zombie War of 1984. Read full story here.
I asked Diplo if they were planning on making more of these cool toys, besides the ones they made for the video and he said “he hopes they can”. I’m going to keep my fingers and toes crossed for this.

I want them all! Major Lazer, The Zombie Vampire, the Mummy…every toy that is in their new Hold The Line video. Check it out!
I have a feeling this won’t be the last time we see some animated Major Lazer. Perhaps an adult cartoon might be heading our way? Hmmm…..

Cris Rose is definitely one of my favorite artists. His style is just amazing! Lately he’s been making resin robots with nature on their minds and I’m loving them. They’re fantastic!
His latest robot is “The Wandering Memorial”.
“By the year 2138, over population of the planet meant that a much greater number of people needed to fit in the same space. With the cities overcrowded, one of the first things to disappear was England’s graveyards.
So it was that the Wandering Memorial was created. Two metric tones of prime English soil encased in an autonomous walking robot. The Wandering Memorial would slowly walk from one city to another and anyone that wanted to morn need only wait for it to visit their area, and one by one they would be lifted up by it’s arms and deposited into it’s climate controlled dome.” Read more Here.
When I envision this world filled with Wandering Memorials, I hear Sigur Ros’ song Untitled #1 (Vaka) playing in the background.

I don’t even know where to begin….this show is BANANAS!!!
Hosted by a human character named DJ Lance Rock, the series features a mix of live-action segments featuring cartoonish costumed characters--Muno (the red cyclops), Foofa (the pink flower bubble), Brobee (a little green monster), Toodee (the blue cat-dragon) and Plex (the yellow robot)--and many short animated sketches and musical numbers.
In its first two seasons, the show featured a wide variety of guests, including Jack Black, Leslie Hall, The Shins, Tony Hawk, Elijah Wood, Biz Markie, The Roots and Chromeo….just to name a few.
Check out Kidrobot if you want to get your hands on some Yo Gabba Gabba toys or clothing.
Here’s a clip of Chromeo teaching kids about washing their hands.
Here’s a clip of Biz Markie showing kids the Halloween Beat of the Day. He’s a regular on the show. “Just suck your teef” Hahaha!

Kids love this show! Check out this kids costume of Muno while holding his Muno toy. Awww….how cute!
You know what I think when I see Muno? I think of this movie called “The Creature that wasn’t nice” aka “Spaceship” that came out in ‘83.
Check it out! Hahaha!

Dunny Endangered! Animal instincts are sharper than ever in the limited edition hyper series, Dunny Endangered! by Kidrobot. Featuring 15 designs (and 2 chases) by 13 incredible artists. They came out May 21st and are going extinct fast!
I like the Lion, the Racoon, the Fox, the Owl and the Pig (he comes with a chainsaw.)
Check out this short stop motion video that was made for this series.
And while you’re at it, do you remember this video by Green Jelly called “Three little pigs”?
Haha! So good! I liked this video back in ‘93. It’s a cool claymation rendition of the classic fairy tale with modern twists, such as pot-smoking pigs, an appearance by Rambo, and a Harley Davidson-riding wolf.

Last night I had the privilege of watching “The Monster Squad”, thanks to my good friend Vlad. I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I had never seen or even heard of this movie. (I know, you can take this moment to judge me…I’m judging myself right now.)
I’m still trying to figure out how this may of happened? For one, I love horror movies and two; I grew up watching almost every movie imaginable in the 80’s. My dad was a big movie buff! Oh well, nobody’s perfect!
So what did I think of this movie? I liked it! All I could think was “Man, I would have loved this movie as a kid!” I think every kid has dreamt about kicking a monster ass….well, every cool kid in my opinion ;) If you liked The Goonies, ET or Ghostbusters growing up…I think you could appreciate this movie. It’s a great way of introducing kids into the horror genre.
They didn’t make any toys for this movie but check out the Universal Studios “Home of the Original” Monsters Series 1 figures that include 5 of your favorite Monster figures. Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolfman, The Mummy and The Creature from the Black Lagoon. Each figure includes a mini-poster and stand. Collect all 5 figures to build the 14″ Frankenstein figure.
Also, here’s a track with Vincent Price (put against Canada’s Circlesquare) where he shares with us tips on how to create the perfect mood for guests, and make a curry from scratch with his very own, unwilling ingredients. Muahahaha! Enjoy!
