While the playlists of indie-listeners show similar UK-/US-dominated patterns around the globe, smaller nations manage to produce an indie-tune every once in a while that is not only something for the patriotic ear. Naked Lunch from my home country Austria currently offer such a spike. The 4-piece from Klangenfurt has been around for more than a decade and recorded several albums with their latest This Atom Heart Of Ours (2007) being my favorite.
In their most recent effort, Naked Lunch has written the entire score to Universalove. The film is a tragic romance that is currently making its way through alternative film festivals and movie theatres on both sides of the Atlantic. Although originally ment to be a soundtrack, some of the songs clearly deserve a wider audience.
Together with an enthusiastic “welcome to thehype.fm blog”, I want to draw your attention to Naked Lunch’s Black Light. (If you have a chance, also have a listen of Only Waiting Here (Tokyo)).
