Karen O the lead singer of the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s recorded the entirety of WTWTA’s soundtrack with help from some  young fresh voices, “The Kids”.

I really love the spirit and vibe of this Soundtrack. It has a very earthy, energetic and wild sound to it. And let’s not forget the talented Karen O’s lovely voice, who I’m  a sucker for. I LOVE HER!

This album makes me want to run outdoors and just let myself go and be free. I’m excited to see what visuals will compliment these great songs. We’ll see what Director Spike Jonze has in store for us on Friday Oct 16th, when the movie is set to come out.

I’ve listened to the soundtrack quite a few times already and I have some favorites. CapsizeWorried Shoes, Hideaway, Cliffs, Animal and Lost Fur. I can see this becoming a favorite album for both adults and kids of all ages.

Check out Vice’s WTWTA website where you can stream the entire album, as well check out artwork from 24 different regular contributing artists inspired by the story, interviews and behind the scenes.

Where The Wild Things Are is a 1963 children’s picture book by American writer Maurice Sendak. Although just ten sentences long, the book is generally regarded as a masterpiece of American illustrated childrens literature.

Here’s a video of the story.

Check out this video with author Maurice Sendak and Spike Jonze talking about the movie.
