.

I caught this video last week, when it was first released and I’m really digging the concept.  It has a very John Travolta in “Saturday Night Fever” vibe to it. I felt like Johnny 5 in Short Circuit when I watched this. It made me want to get up and dance and maybe even take some dancing lessons. I had no idea Dave 1 could move like this. I’m very impressed!

.

.

Speaking of Johnny 5, I loved him so much when I was a kid. Short Circuit 1 (1986) was definitely one of my favorite movies growing up. I wanted to have a robot just like him. Then 22 years later the movie WALL-E came out, and I fell for another robot <3 I must admit, they do look and act quite similar. They’re both so lovable! ^_^

For those of you out there who feel the same about these loving robots, you can still get your hands on a WALL-E toy at amazon.com. (Maybe for Christmas?)

  • Wall E with light-up eyes, moving head and arms, original movie voice and sound effects.
  • Talk to it; push it along or press a button and it he will respond.

Or maybe you can start saving up for one of these robots? CRAZY!!!!!!!!

Keep it going louder-Major Lazer

Last month I went to the Major Lazer show here in Toronto and Diplo told me that he was working on a new video for “Keep It Going Louder”. He mentioned green screen, animation and said that if we liked the last few video’s he did for Major Lazer, then he had something special in store for us. Did he ever!!

.

He also posted this photo not too long after on his twitter giving us a little visual of what to expect, but I don’t think anything could of prepared us for this video. It was directed by Eric Wareheim, the same Director who did Major Lazer’s “Pon de Floor”. You can click HERE to check out  that story.

.

This video is straight up insane. The chicks are busted! Not the typical video vixens, let me tell ya. These chicks look like they had a run in with Chris Cunningham and that voodoo guy who shrinks Beetlejuice’s head at the end of the movie for stealing his ticket number. Damn!

Haha! Diplo’s face, total Tim and Eric move.

.

Click here to check out the new video and get your mind blown away!

.

P.S I can’t wait to see the new “Major Lazer” cartoon on Adult Swim. I’m soooo excited! Zombies, Mummy’s, Vampires and Major Lazer!!! ^_^

tom-wrecks

I’m so excited to announce that I have Tom Wreck’s Remix of Love Fool to share with all of you. It’s definitely up there as one of my favorites. It’s soooooo good! Tom never fails to make a solid remix.

I first heard it a month ago, while snooping through his computer. Hey, don’t judge me! I wanted some new music for my Ipod. Turns out, he came out with it last summer.

Anyways, I loved it as soon as I heard it. I asked if I could post it, but like most DJ’s out there, he felt like he still needed to tweak it. Perfectionist!

To make a long story short, he added his final touches and sent it out a few days ago.

But as it turns out…..Barletta, another Toronto DJ, just put out his remix of Love Fool as well. Weird! Definitely a Twilight Zone moment.

Anyhow, they are both completely different. Tom’s version is darker then Barletta’s, who sticking more to the happy, cheery tone of the original Love Fool.

I first fell for the Cardigans Love Fool track back in ‘96 when I heard it on The Romeo and Juliet soundtrack. I must say, listening to the lyrics now, I do not support the story. The song is about a pathetic girl who is willing to accept scraps of love. Fuck that! Have more respect for yourself WOMAN!

I don’t know about you, but I find Tom Wreck’s Remix to deliver a different message. With the vocals/lyrics he has chosen and the more aggressive beats that he has produced, the story sounds better to me.

I feel she has matured since we heard her last. She’s recognized a pattern. She’s been played for a fool over and over AND OVER! And she’s fed up! She’s letting him know how she felt and what he made her go through. She’s cried, she’s prayed and she begged.  That Bastard!

For those of you out there who are “Love Fools”, GET IT TOGETHER!

I suggest you bid them Adieu, and give them one of these.

Trust me…you will feel so much better.

Last night, just before heading to bed I decided to check out my twitter account, and what did I see? A-Trak posted that his Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Heads Will Roll Remix was released into the blog world for us to receive  for FREE. I quickly messaged my boy Jordan to tell him the exciting news. It was 2am and he was sleeping but quickly got up to download it. A-trak has this effect on people.

I was sooo happy! I first heard his remix on the Annie Mac BBC Radio show and fell in love with it right away.

I’ve been listening to it everyday for the past week and a half off my computer, but now I can finally add it to my Ipod. Yay! Yay! Yay!

Here it is. Enjoy!

Last Sunday, Oct 11th, I went to check out Major Lazer. It was one of several performances being held at the Guvernment for their 13th year anniversary. I will admit, I’m not a fan of the Guvernment, seeing as its way too big for my taste and I no longer rave it out like back in the day. BUT, I made an exception to see Major Lazer, so I just stayed on their stage in the Kool Haus room.

What a night!!! I’ve been wanting to see Major Lazer for quite some time now, and there was no way I was going to miss their first performance in Toronto. I only went that night to see them, and man was I blown away!!! I don’t know what I had in mind, but all I know is that I got more than what I expected. They know how to put on a SHOW!

I was hoping to see both Diplo and Switch that night (the 2 brains behind Major Lazer), but only Diplo was there to represent, and he KILLED IT! I have always been a huge fan of Diplo no matter what direction he goes in. The man is a musical Genius! Always expanding my musical taste and surprising me with what I like.

100_0591_1

For anyone not knowing who or what Major Lazer was all about, I can’t imagine what it must have been like stepping into that room, taking a quick glance at Diplo looking all sharp in his suit and then seeing the madness up on stage. They must have been in Shock!

1) The music, 2) Skerrit Bwoy, 3) The dancers and 4) The Daggering= Crazy  “DRY SEX” on the dance floor! Braaaap!

Check out my video for a taste of what you missed! I had an awesome POV on stage, thanks Wes!

(I apologize for the audio, it starts off a little crazy)

Also here’s Major Lazer - Keep It Goin’ Louder (ft. Nina Sky & Ricky Blazey).

I’m loving the video! Zombies, bats, mummys and Major Lazer himself. Sooo good!!

Also, my boy Diplo filled me in with a little secret for their upcoming Major Lazer video. Let’s just say that if you liked Pon De Floor and Keep It Goin’ Louder, then you will love where this next one is heading. Bringing in some next level animation. Unfortunately that’s all I can tell you, but from what he explained to me, it’s going to be awesome! I CANT WAIT TO SEE IT! Obviously I will post it as soon as its out.

Karen O the lead singer of the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s recorded the entirety of WTWTA’s soundtrack with help from some  young fresh voices, “The Kids”.

I really love the spirit and vibe of this Soundtrack. It has a very earthy, energetic and wild sound to it. And let’s not forget the talented Karen O’s lovely voice, who I’m  a sucker for. I LOVE HER!

This album makes me want to run outdoors and just let myself go and be free. I’m excited to see what visuals will compliment these great songs. We’ll see what Director Spike Jonze has in store for us on Friday Oct 16th, when the movie is set to come out.

I’ve listened to the soundtrack quite a few times already and I have some favorites. CapsizeWorried Shoes, Hideaway, Cliffs, Animal and Lost Fur. I can see this becoming a favorite album for both adults and kids of all ages.

Check out Vice’s WTWTA website where you can stream the entire album, as well check out artwork from 24 different regular contributing artists inspired by the story, interviews and behind the scenes.

Where The Wild Things Are is a 1963 children’s picture book by American writer Maurice Sendak. Although just ten sentences long, the book is generally regarded as a masterpiece of American illustrated childrens literature.

Here’s a video of the story.

Check out this video with author Maurice Sendak and Spike Jonze talking about the movie.

Carlos Enriquez-Gonzalez’ sculpture “Magic Vagina” stands at eight and one half feet tall. It embodies the idea of the vagina as the giver of life—a symbolic portal through which we go from one world to another.

His sculpture, “Magical Vagina” as well as the three smaller (approx. 14″) sculptures (in fiberglass) will be on sale on Oct 3rd in Phillips upcoming Latin American auction, that will feature contemporary works of art which are inspired by, reflect on and embody the spirit of the region and culture of Latin America.

Carlos creates exciting works that blur the boundaries between the fantasy of comics and high art. The artist uses symbols that reflect his own intimate world such as mushrooms, eyes, monsters, brains, sacred elements and sexual organs which blend his concerns with energy, power, intuition and multidimensionality.

I remember the first time I saw sexual organs morph into different shapes. I was 8yrs old watching Pink Floyd’s movie “The Wall” with my dad. I didn’t quite understand what was going on in the movie, but I did find the animation to be very cool and scary.

The film contains fifteen minutes of elaborate animation sequences by the political cartoonist and illustrator Gerald Scarfe.

simpsons ralph

.

Venture to the deep end of the sandbox with Ralph Wiggum, the awkwardly endearing, paste-eating loser from Matt Groening’s The Simpsons. Choo-choo-choose this lovable 6-inch figure, which comes with one of two random assortment accessories, paste or a Leprechaun.

.

simpsons kang kodos

.

As well, get your hands on Kang & Kodos, the evil, cycloptic aliens. These come blind boxed and are also 6-inches tall. I want the salivating Kang with the “How to cook for forty humans” book.

.

These Simpsons characters retail for $29.95, and hit Kidrobot stores and select retailers on October 8th. Also, check out the Kidrobot site for other Simpsons characters.

Here’s a cool Simpsons/Burger King video that I stumbled upon and artwork by artist SpaceCayote. American Style vs Japanese style. Enjoy!
